YKVN Named “National Law Firm of the Year” for Vietnam in 2010
Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City (May 4, 2010) YKVN is pleased to announce once again it has been awarded “National Law Firm of the Year” for Vietnam in 2010 by International Finance Law Review (IFLR). YKVN was given this distinction in 2004, 2005 and 2009, and is now a four time winner of this distinguished award. The IFLR Asia Awards are the most reputable awards in the market that recognize law firms and transactions in the region. According to IFLR, the “National Law Firm of the Year” award is given to the local law firm in each particular country with what IFLR considers the best track record for the preceding year in providing legal advice on the most noteworthy international finance deals. The “National Law Firm of the Year” award is a demonstration of the winning law firm’s quality of services and leading role within its legal community and throughout the region. On learning of the award and the top rankings of YKVN in key practice areas this year, Mr. Ha Hung Cuong, Minister of Justice, in a recent letter to YKVN, recognized the firm's achievement: “On behalf of the Ministry of Justice, I would like to commend YKVN for its achievement of recognition in the region and its enthusiastic contributions to the Ministry of Justice’s activities. In our tenth anniversary since establishment, YKVN advised on many innovative notable finance deals, including being on the team that counseled the lead manager Credit Suisse on Vincom’s US$100 million convertible bonds (which was named IFLR’s “Debt and Equity-linked Deal of the Year” and Asian Counsel’s “Deal of the Year”), on the advisory team for the joint lead managers Barclays, Citigroup and Deutsche Bank on the US$1 billion international bond issue of the Vietnamese Government, advising Vietnam Airlines on its acquisition of six new ATR aircrafts, counseling the lead managers HSBC and Standard Chartered Bank on the issuance of Techcombank bonds worth approximately VND2,400 billion, and counseling PetroVietnam Finance Corporation on a secondary listing on the Singapore Stock Exchange.
